GPU: ASUS STRIX Radeon R9 390 8GB VRAM, no CrossfireĬPU: Intel Core i7 4770K 3.50GHz Haswell 22nm Technology I've Googled this issue left and right and have yet to find a solution.

So am I screwed here? Is AMD forcing me out of the loop because I don't want to update my drivers? Since Radeon ReLive's Wattman turns off MSI Afterburner, I couldn't use a custom fan curve, and Wattman would literally disable my GPU fans leading to insane temps. The ASUS model is horrible and has bad fans, and absolutely requires a custom fan curve to be set. There's a huge reason I've steered clear of ReLive: it was nothing but problems for me, and would literally shut off the fans of my ASUS STRIX Radeon R9 390 card, which is a HUGE problem. My question is this: Do I have to reinstall Radeon ReLive in order to retain the full functionality of my monitor and have it recognized by Windows?

It's also worth noting that when I go to my graphics card's display adapter settings, that 1440p 144hz is listed, but 1920 x 1080p 144hz and 120hz isn't there, and the monitor still shows up as generic PnP in Windows 10's device manager-and doesn't show the actual model name in Display Settings.

I've downloaded the correct drivers for the monitor from Acer's site, and go to update my drivers in the Device Manager pane, but it still says I have the best drivers installed.

So I rolled back from Radeon ReLive to Crimson 16.11.5 because the software suite was literally disabling my GPU fans, but after I did so, my Acer XG270HU 1440p 144Hz monitor is now showing up as a Generic PnP monitor in the R9 390's display adapter settings.īefore this, my monitor showed up as the model name and everything in the Device Manager.Ĭrimson actually recognizes the monitor, but Windows doesn't, for some reason. I also had to uninstall the Generic PnP Monitor from Device Manager a few times, Remove it from the Connected Devices tab in Devices -> Connected Devices.Īfter installing the drivers and doing the aforementioned steps above, the Acer XG270HU monitor showed up, and I'm able to use 1920 x 1080 144Hz settings.

At one point after a crash that actually let me get back to windows I opened event viewer and it had "Event ID 41, Kernel Power", I searched for possible fixes for that, but so far the only thing I can try is using my enermax PSU.I managed to fix this error by disabling Windows 10's digital driver enforcement and manually install the monitor's drivers.

sometimes after trying driver install and system crashes it cant even get past the Welcome window again so I have to reinstall windows. When I tried catalyst 15, the installer actually got to the Install Successful window, then system crashed, after booting back to windows there wasnt any signs of catalyst drivers installed on the system. increase ram voltage slightly(vendor says 1.5v is the required voltage, but all the other 2133mhz kits I see ask for 1.65v. make sure latest bios version is installed different drivers were used in both win10 and 8.1 fresh installs use different driver versions(crimson driver, catalyst 15, 800mb+ gpu/chipset installer from gigabyte site) reapply thermal paste(cleaning old one first, temps didnt change)

check cpu temps in bios (50c after letting it sit in the bios for a few mins) Move ram to the other 2 slots(always using same color slots)

Make sure ram is running at the rated 2133mhz(set profile to XMP) Thermaltake 700w (the one I was using on my system before upgrading to the enermax) The system never crashes while the video drivers arent installed, this happens on windows 10 and 8.1. Hello guys, a friend just bought new parts for his new build and is having problems when installing video drivers so he asked me for help with this.
